Shakta Tantra uses the following techniques a.o.: Shodhana (purification exercises) Asanas (body positions) Mudra (body postures) Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) Pranayama (breathing exercises) Puja (rituals) Abhyanga (massage) Many of these techniques used in Shakta Tantra are similar to those of various traditions of Yoga (Mantra Yoga, Kriya Yoga), but are applied in special combinations, as Shakta Tantra theory differs significantly from that of Yoga. In Shakta Tantra the world is regarded as being substantially real, thus Maya is not considered being a mere illusion. Conscientous and steady practice of the methods of Shakta Tantra will lead the practitioner into a state of negation or non-duality. It is important to mention that traditional Tantra differs significantly from the 'Sex & Love' Neo-Tantra, that is known in the West. Now a short excursion to China... Taoism has been a formative tradition in China before the rise of dogmatic confucianism, and bears close similarities with traditional Tantra. Part of my practice consists of bodywork that is called Taoist Sexual Massage, the theory and practice of which is following Taoism and the system of the meridians.
